Planning for a long weekend getaway but not sure which Bintan Island resorts to choose? Reading too many reviews about the run-of-the-mill resorts but you want somewhere unique? Well, then you have come to the right place! \(★ω★)/

Hubs and I usually try to avoid Bintan Island resorts that Singaporeans frequent and if possible, away from kids as well. So in this post, I would be sharing four stunning Bintan Island resorts, one of which is even an adult-only resort! So let’s get moving~! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Nikoi Island, Private Island of Simple Luxury

Bintan has never been attractive to us since it is well-known that Singaporeans would always visit it for holidays. Singaporeans are fine but just when we go for a holiday, we would want to have the feeling that we are overseas. This means that there shouldn’t be people speaking Singlish wherever we go. (´-ω-`)

So when we came to know about Nikoi Island, we were intrigued. The resort’s style was in line with what we love. And we also loved that it is a private island resort. As new resort-goers, we decided to give it a go~! ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶

Nikoi Island is unlike your usual resorts in Bintan where a ferry trip to Bintan and a short car ride would bring you right to the doorstep of the resort. Nope, Nikoi Island is about 85km from Singapore and to reach the resort, you would need to take the ferry to Bintan followed by a 1-hour car ride to their private jetty then a 20-minute speedboat ride to their island.

Sounds really far eh? IT IS but it was all worth it. I felt like the further away the resort is from the main Bintan resort area, the more beautiful the resort will be. And in this case, Nikoi is a private island, making it more beautiful than any other resort you can find on the main island.

Why You Should Stay at Nikoi Island

The Natural White Sandy Beach

There are so many firsts when it comes to Nikoi Island. As almost new resort-goers, it was our first time staying at a resort that has a natural white sandy beach! I mean if you have been to Singapore or are a Singaporean, you would know what I mean. Please don’t tell me about Sentosa ‘cos that doesn’t count. I said NATURAL. (¬_¬ )

Villa by the Sea

It was also our first time staying in such a HUGE villa by the beach and it doesn’t even come with air-conditioning! Nikoi Island’s villas are all beach houses so they would all be facing the sea, which was what we loved! The villa is two-storey high and the bedroom with its own bathroom is on level 2, while level 1 is an open-air area for lounging around. I always think that the villa is so big for just two pax. But I guess that’s what simple luxury meant eh? (´・ᴗ・ ` )

The villas are built in a way that allows for natural ventilation. During our stay, we have never felt that the lack of air-conditioning was an issue. The villa was so airy with the sea breeze that even on the hottest day, it was still good to chill in the villa.

One thing to note though. Since the villa is mostly open-air, even with the doors and windows closed, there would still be gaps for insects to fly in. We didn’t have any problem with mosquitoes, from what I remembered, but we do have insects that were attracted to the light in the bathroom so I always avoid going to the bathroom late at night. (″ロ゛)

Experiencing Communal Dining

Communal dining is a thing here at Nikoi Island. Most resorts, if not all, always have a private table for you when you dine. But at Nikoi Island, it was a brand new experience. A long table is placed in the middle of the dining area. All the guests would then gather around the table to have their breakfast during their preferred dining hour.

The dining area is on a sandy area so you would also be able to feel the soft white sand under your feet while dining. How cool is that?! I mean it was nice for me as I really enjoy stepping on the soft sand while eating. (´ ∀ ` *)

Daily menus are being put up on their blackboard in the dining room and vary every day, depending on the available ingredients from the local markets and farms. Since we were on a private island, we have to opt-in for the daily board ‘cos not like you can go anywhere else to eat. |・ω・) From what I remember, the food was great and if you have any dislikes or allergies, you can inform the staff in advance so that they can prepare your food accordingly. ( ´ ω ` )

Something that I never mentioned before but I was, and still am, very embarrassed with my command of English. So I always felt uncomfortable talking to foreigners, as I worry that they might not understand what I am saying. So communal dining was rather stressful for me during our stay at Nikoi Island. But if you are someone who enjoys mingling with other people, I am sure you would enjoy the whole experience. I did somehow find joy in talking to some of the guests, though it takes time for me to get used to it. (*/ω\)

Bonus Tidbit

After staying at Nikoi Island in 2009, we decided to go back there again in 2011 to have our pre-wedding photoshoot! We arrived at Nikoi Island after a drizzle and were thankful that it turned out well after that and for the next two days we were there.

We caught some beautiful skies, sunrise and sunset during our photoshoot at Nikoi Island. The photos were so perfect that they got our guests wondering if they were photoshopped. They weren’t and Nikoi Island was so perfect for a wedding photoshoot. Gonna be shameless here and share some photos taken by our photographer from Stories! (´• ω •`) ♡

Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan, Our 1st Private Pool Villa Experience in Bintan

Since staying at private pool villas in Bali, hubs and I are always in search of resorts with private pool villas near Singapore that we can visit. There is Montigo Resort in Batam, which a lot of people have raved about but the reviews ALWAYS put us off so it’s a no-go. Then there is also Banyan Tree Bintan but the cost is just too high for a Bintan trip. The Holiday Villa Pantai Indah, now known as Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan, came along and we know that we have to give it a try! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan is located just 12 minutes away from the Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal. Among all the resorts in Bintan that have a private pool villa option, Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan has to be one of the first resorts that have such villas at an affordable price. So when the opportunity comes, we book ourselves a short 2D1N weekend trip with them. (´ ∀ ` *)

Why You Should Stay at Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan

One-Bedroom Private Pool Villa at an Affordable Price

There are not many one-bedroom private pool villa options in Bintan at an affordable price, making this one of the main reasons to visit Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan. For the price that we were paying, we were actually quite surprised with the size of the villa. Not only that, the pool size was actually reasonably big as well! \(★ω★)/

Nearby Facilities for More Activities

The resort compound is actually quite big for some exploration. But if you are someone who prefers to explore outside the resort, you will be happy to know that the resort is located just about a 3-minute drive away from Plaza Lagoi. There are some shops and restaurants which you could visit and just by the mall, is Lagoi Beach for some beach activities.

We didn’t visit the mall since we were only staying for a short duration. According to the Bintan Resorts website, there is a complimentary shuttle bus service to the mall so the convenience is there to explore outside the resort!

Cempedak Island, An Adult-Only Private Island

Cempedak Island is the sister island of Nikoi Island, one of the main reasons that we decided to stay with them. Unlike Nikoi Island, which is a family-friendly resort, Cempedak Island branded itself as an adult-only resort. So for those seeking a child-free experience in a resort, this is the right place to visit! ( ´ ω ` )

Located 91km from Singapore, the travelling time to Cempedak Island is 2.5 hours, almost the same as you would travel to Nikoi Island. Both Nikoi Island and Cempedak Island share the same private jetty hence when you are travelling to Cempedak Island, don’t be surprised if you see children at the jetty. They should most likely be going to Nikoi Island. (´ ∀ ` *)

Why You Should Stay at Cempedak Island

Number 1 Reason – It’s an ADULT-ONLY resort!

Being an adult-only resort means that you would be able to enjoy a child-free experience during your stay! There would be no crying babies or kids running around the resort. You would only be hearing the sound of the waves and insects around your villa.

Though I have to say, I think Asian kids are usually the noisier ones. I am a Singaporean and I always think Caucasian kids seem to be more well-disciplined as compared to Asians. Given that Caucasians give their kids more freedom than Asians, I find it odd that Asian kids are the more problematic ones. At least the ones I saw. But this is also why I don’t like to visit a resort with too many Singaporeans. (*/ω\)

Villa with a Private Pool by the Beach

Not only is the villa HUGE, it even comes with a private pool! Every villa on Cempedak Island comes with a private pool so the only choice you had to make is whether you want a sea view or by the beach. We chose the Beach Villa with private access to the beach. Since we were just beside the shoreline, a lot of time is spent in the pool, listening to the waves while we chill. ♡(。- ω -)

I have a whole blog post dedicated to our stay at Cempedak Island so do give it a read if you want to find out more! You don’t want to miss out on the biggest issue we had with the resort and a huge surprise that we got during our stay, do you? (^ω~)

The Residence Bintan, Luxurious Pool Villa Paradise

Leaving the best for the last! Introducing one of the best Bintan resorts we have visited, The Residence Bintan! 。゚(TヮT)゚。

The resort is located 1.5 hours away from the Bintan ferry terminal so you would be sure to be away from the crowd that is on Bintan island. But this also means that if you want to explore outside the resort, you would have to travel quite a distance. Having stayed twice at The Residence Bintan, I can assure you that you DO NOT have to worry about being bored in the resort ‘cos there is just so much to do!

Why You Should Stay at The Residence Bintan

A Villa Paradise for Families, Friends and Couples~
