About Me

Little Tidbits about ME!

I started working as a software engineer/support engineer doing military projects. Bored with the mundane work and frequent visits to the army camps, I decided to make an unexpected switch to doing events instead! With ZERO experience, I went in with nothing but came out with a passion for it. (´ ω `♡)

As many in the events industry would know, life in this industry just sucks you into a black hole, and you come out with your life sucked dry. (x_x)⌒☆ Passion can only take me so far while the hectic life takes over. Travelling was a way to help me escape (from clients!) and recharge.

I have since left the events industry but the love for travelling remains in my blood. Also, lucky for me, hubs have the same travelling style as me, so we could travel and create memories together without compromise~! ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶

Love to Travel, Love to Explore

Every year, we would make sure to have at least two major trips: one resort trip for rest and relaxation and another city trip for rest and exploration. ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

I Just Want to Take a Break

Our love for visiting resorts goes way back. Our first trip was actually to a simple and rustic resort in Langkawi for my birthday. Since then, we have learnt about how much we love to just rest and relax in a resort, not having to think about day trips to make for the day.

No water sports, no island-hopping, no nothing. We just want to chill by our pool (if we have one) and relax. Maybe while we age, we just want to take a break. Life is tough enough, and we don’t need to always seek adventures at every moment. (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Exploration Outside of Our Utopia

We like to refer to Singapore as a UTOPIA. That’s because, unlike many countries in the world, Singapore is actually almost a perfect country to live in. I KNOW. Not everyone agrees but I think Singapore is as perfect as it can get. (@´ー`)ノ゙

There is no natural disaster. The crime rate is, in my opinion, quite low. Ladies could walk on the streets at night feeling safe. Most of us have a roof above our heads, and as much as we want to complain about how small our homes are, they aren’t in comparison to overseas. Our healthcare isn’t too bad. Our government is protective and overprotective sometimes, and we don’t even know about it. A lot of things are so easily accessible to us.

Travelling helps us open our eyes to the world around us. Honestly, I kept wondering how we would survive outside Singapore, especially considering how sheltered we are. City trips help us explore and understand another country’s culture. They also help us appreciate what we have and how we can be better.

Our way of city travel has changed over the years. Now we are more adventurous and would always try to take the chance to see more nooks and crannies of every street in every country if time permits. (´• ω •`) ♡

How This Blog Is Born

This blog is titled The Ordinary Katalog as I want it to be ordinary. No big and flowery words. Just real-life experiences. And the word KATALOG is just a wordplay with the word catalog and my name Katherine. (^ω~)

The world is too big for us to explore but I hope that I will be able to capture them through my photos as I shared them with you through my posts. __φ(..) I also hope that, maybe in future, I would be able to share with you my daily/weekly life. Who knows. But for now, this place would be capturing my adventures with my husband. ❤ (ɔˆз(ˆ⌣ˆc)
