Local Flavors & Beachfront View: 16 Restaurants to Visit in Sanur

On our first trip to Sanur, hubs and I were amazed at the food scene here! With limited time in Sanur, we tried to visit as many restaurants on our list as possible. If that wasn’t enough, we even got food deliveries from local warungs! I think we ate a bit too much in Sanur, though it was all worth it. Haha! Anyway, if you are thinking of checking out Sanur, why not read this guide where I share the restaurants, cafes and warungs we have visited and missed~! (´• ω •`)ノ

What is the Main Street in Sanur?

The main street of Sanur is located at Jl. Danau Tamblingan. With a more laid-back atmosphere in Sanur, you will find that the main street is less touristy than places like Seminyak and Ubud. Although there are shops selling clothes and accessories, they are more local than the boutique ones you see in Seminyak. The overall vibe is just more chill.

That being said, the main street of Sanur still has a lot of cafes and restaurants. Not only that, you can also find a handful of warungs popping up along the side alleys. We also spotted several marts along the main street, with Arta Sedana Sanur being the biggest we spotted along the way. All these made Sanur feel like a very livable place in Bali, and we love that about Sanur. ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

Restaurants for All-Day Breakfast and Coffee in Sanur

Time to fuel up for the day with some delicious breakfast and great coffee! In this section, I will share some food spots where you can have all-day breakfasts in Sanur to start your day right~! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

1. Bread Basket

If you want a simple breakfast, such as croissants and pastries, in Sanur, Bread Basket is worth considering. I had a simple ham and cheese croissant, and I loved how delicious and fluffy the croissant was! If you want something simple, consider one of the pastries on their display counter. Its pretzel blew me away that I wished I could have more~! (´-ω-`)

2. Sala Bistro & Coffee

Sala Bistro & Coffee was a fantastic place for breakfast and coffee. Not only is it vegan and lactose-intolerant friendly, but it is also a pet-friendly cafe! That means you can visit this place for breakfast with your pet after working out a sweat during your morning walk at the beach. The food and coffee we had here were of excellent quality, and the service was also exceptional. It can get crowded as it gets later into the morning, so come by early to grab yourself a table~! Restaurants for Casual Dining in Sanur

Looking for restaurants with a relaxed vibe in Sanur? Look no further as I share some food spots in Sanur where you can eat and chill with your friends and family.

3. Cosmic Diner

If you want an American diner experience, you can head to Cosmic Diner in Sanur! Interestingly, this place serves a wide variety of food, from Western burgers to local crispy pork belly rice bowls. We did not visit this restaurant in person but came across it while looking for a restaurant with aglio olio on the menu on GoJek. Yes, I was craving aglio olio in Sanur~! (*/ω\)

We ordered the Spicy Prawn Alio Olio and Popcorn Chicken from this restaurant. The aglio olio was okay, though not garlicky enough for our taste buds. The popcorn chicken looked huge! I think they were more like chicken chunks to us. Haha! The crunchiness and flavour were on point for this item. (ᵔ◡ᵔ) If you want some burgers and shakes in Sanur, consider checking out Cosmic Diner ~!

4. Massimo Italian Restaurant

In search of some authentic Italian food? Search no more as Massimo Italian Restaurant is THE ONE to visit! Not only did we have a life-changing carbonara, but we also had one of the best gelatos in our life here! Many were queuing for the gelato in the hot weather, but I highly recommend trying the food here as well. Trust me; you won’t regret it! \(★ω★)/

Restaurants with a View at Sanur Beach

There are so many restaurants and cafes lining the beach walk along Sanur Beach. But sadly, we could only visit one, all thanks to being lazy bums. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) So, besides that ONE restaurant we visited, I thought I would share the others we have shortlisted for your consideration as well!

5. Fisherman’s Club (Andaz Bali)

Out of all the restaurants along Sanur Beach, we chose Fisherman’s Club at Andaz Bali for one main reason. It is in a gated area so that stray dogs can be kept out. I know dogs in this area meant people no harm, but with my fear of dogs, I would rather dine in a place where I don’t have to be on high alert while eating. For this exact reason, we chose Fisherman’s Club after strolling down the Sanur beach walk.

The crispy tofu and hotdog bun that we got from Fisherman's Club (Andaz Bali), one of the restaurants in Sanur

Although at a slightly higher price than the standalone restaurants in this area, the food and service were great at Fisherman’s Club. It was also nice to enjoy the sea breeze and watch people walk by us in the evening. If you want a sheltered area and still have a view, consider the Fisherman’s Club at Andaz Bali! (´• ω •`)

6. Lilla Pantai

We wanted to visit Lilla Pantai for breakfast after doing a morning walk along Sanur beach. All sounded perfect on paper until we realised staying in the villa was way more comfortable than going out under the blazing sun in Sanur. Haha! This restaurant seems popular with foreigners, and it gets crowded from lunchtime onwards. That was why we planned to visit it in the morning to avoid the crowd.

Food and drinks seemed to be quite highly recommended here. If you want to get close to the beach, they have tables right ON the sand! So you could enjoy the breeze and dig your feet into the sand while dining here, which is quite a vibe. ( ´ ω ` )

💲 Nasi Campur: 59,000 IDR (~5 SGD)

7. Pizzaria (Hyatt Regency Bali)

I was attracted by Pizzaria’s great reviews on Google and had it shortlisted for one of our dinners here at Sanur. We didn’t make it there but passed by it while strolling on the Sanur beach walk. No tall hedges separate the dining area and the beach walk so that you would have a better view of the beach right in front of you. Besides the view, the pizzas, pasta and services were also some things people mentioned in their reviews. It is a place worth considering if you want some pizzas by the beach~! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

8. Tree Bar (Maya Sanur)

We did not shortlist this place, but I thought I would recommend it since we saw many people dining there for the few times we have walked past it in the evening/night. The interesting thing about Tree Bar is that it is the only elevated restaurant/bar we spotted along Sanur beach. So, if you are lucky to get yourself a table by the ledge, you will have an unobstructed view of the beach while drinking and dining here! ( ´ ω ` )

Restaurants Serving Local Delights in Sanur

Interestingly, we ordered A LOT of food deliveries in Sanur. Maybe it was because our Sanur villa has the most chill atmosphere for us to stay in to do some work while on holiday. Also, because it was so hot out there, we wanted to stay in to relax in the pool rather than go out. Haha! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Anyway, we enjoyed ordering through GoJek or Grab to try more local food while in Bali. I have shared some tips on using GoJek and Grab for food delivery, so read all about them to start widening your food options in Bali! For now, let me continue sharing some local delights we had in Sanur with you! (@´ー`)ノ゙

9 – 10. ACK & Jaya Fried Chicken (JFC)

We decided to do a little face-off between ACK and JFC’s fried chicken out of boredom. We also wanted to order KFC and McDonald’s but forgot all about them because we had too much food. Haha! So, we just made do with ACK and JFC for now! ( ´ ω ` )

Ayma Geprek from ACK and JFC, two fast food restaurants in Sanur where you can get fried chicken from
Left: ACK | Right: JFC

Anyway, between ACK and JFC, I prefer the fried chicken from ACK. There is just something about its taste that made me like it better than JFC’s. Maybe it has to do with the seasoning they use in their marinate. But, if you are not particular, many places in Bali sell delicious fried chicken. ACK, JFC, KFC and McDonald’s are just easier options when we think about fried chicken here. (´• ω •`)

💲 ACK – Ayam Geprek: 24,800 IDR (~2 SGD) | JFC – Ayam Geprek: 21,000 IDR (~1.80 SGD)

11. Ayam Bakar Bali Tulen

It’s not like we don’t have Ayam Bakar in Singapore. But OMG, the Ayam Bakar we got from this warung was mind-blowingly delicious! The chicken had a slightly charred taste, but it was nice and tender, and the sauce was out of this world. We ordered a separate portion of tofu and tempe, and the same sauce was used on it as well, giving the dish an extra oomph! Definitely give this warung a try if you are staying in Sanur!

12. Babi Guling Singaraja Beras Merah “Rendi”

Life would be boring in Bali if we didn’t have babi guling! There were quite a few options in Sanur, and this one from Babi Guling Singaraja Beras Merah Rendi was quite good! In some ways, it was pretty similar to Pak Malen’s babi guling but cheaper. If you didn’t know, our favourite babi guling is from Pak Malen, so we were quite happy to find one with a similar taste at a cheaper price here in Sanur. ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝ Interestingly, this warung has raving reviews on Google, so worth ordering from them for some delicious babi guling in Sanur!

13. Lalapan Leleku

Curious about how siew mai, or in Bali it’s called siomay, might look like here, we decided to randomly order some from the first warung we spotted on the app to try them out. We even ordered the slightly luxurious crab version to see what was the difference. When the food was here, hubs and I were surprised by the crab version. Instead of what we assumed would be crab fillings in the siomay, it came with a thin slice of crabstick on it. Haha! This was totally not what we imagined a crab siomay would be. LOL. Anyway, the original ayam one was better, so there is no need for the “luxurious” version~! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

The crab and ayam siomay, as well as the jagung bakar we got from Lalapan Leleku in Sanur

Besides that, we also ordered Indomie Goreng, Tahu Crispy and Jagung Bakar from this warung. There is not much to say about the Indomie and tahu since nothing can go wrong with those two dishes. The Jagung Bakar, or grilled corn, was the interesting one. It came with an option to add sauce to it, and we went with none. So it was just plain grilled corn, which was rather dry. Haha! I thought, by default, it would have some butter mixed into it, so this was on us. LOL. If you come by this dish, you better have sauce with it, or else it can be too dry and bland to eat by itself!

💲 Siomay Ayam: 15,000 IDR (~1.30 SGD) | Siomay Crab: 20,000 IDR (~1.70 SGD) | Jagung Bakar: 12,000 IDR (~1 SGD)

⏰ Opening Hours: 9 AM – 9 PM
☎️ GoJek Food Delivery

14. Siomay & Batagor Kang Budi

We kept seeing the siomay and batagor combination on both GoJek and Grab and were curious to know what batagor is. So we decided to, once again, randomly order from a warung to try. And we finally got our answer! Batagor is just fried or oven-baked siomay. Haha! Totally did not expect the answer to be that easy. LOL. Anyway, we got the siomay, batagor and telor (egg) combination, and it came with a side of peanut sauce for us to pour over the ingredients. I think it is quite an interesting local food to try if you have not. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

15. Warung Babi Guling Amerta Sari

Interestingly, I did not write down any notes for this warung that sells babi guling! I couldn’t believe it, considering how much we love to compare babi guling from other warungs with Pak Malen. (´-ω-`) Reviews on Google seem to be rather positive, with many saying that a lot of locals visit this warung. Considering we didn’t have any recollection of the food, I think it is safe to say it should be okay to try them. Haha! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

16. Warung Bakso Kurnia

Yet another local food worth trying out is Bakso Ayam, which is chicken meatball. Once again, we just ordered from the warung that we thought was okay to order from and just went with this one called Warung Bakso Kurnia. We got the Bakso Ayam Pangsit (dumplings) + Tahu, and it was absolutely delicious! The soup was slightly salty, but the meatballs were so good! You know how some meatballs have some weird bits in them and are tough to bite on? The ones at this warung were perfectly nice and bouncy. The chilli given on the side was super spicy but we loved it! (´• ω •`)ノ

So, How Much is an Average Meal in Sanur?

As with all places, how much you spend on a meal really depends on which places you choose to eat at. Personally, I think Sanur seems to have more affordable options as compared to places like Seminyak and Ubud. Even just along the beach walk, away from the chains of hotels, there were a lot of warungs and local food stalls where you could have an affordable meal. Imagine having Nasi Goreng at 25,000 IDR (~2 SGD) right by the beach! So, go out and start exploring and enjoying the chill vibes and affordable food in Sanur~! (>ᴗ•)
