Our cafe adventure in Hoi An brought us to HEYDAY Coffee. With its great reviews on Google and beautiful view of the Thu Bon River from the cafe, we decided to visit this cafe to chill and relax for the day. Come and check it out with me~! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

What Attracts Us to HEYDAY Coffee in Hoi An?

There are many cafes in Hoi An, and deciding which ones to visit for the few days we were here has been challenging. While canvassing Hoi An on Google Maps, I came across HEYDAY Coffee. The first thing that caught my attention was the photos of Thu Bon River from the cafe. I thought it was such a vibe, different from the views of the Hoi An streets as seen from other cafes. People were also saying how nice it was to chill there, so I shortlisted this cafe for our visit! (@´ー`)ノ゙

Chilling to the Rain at HEYDAY Coffee

After our late lunch at White Rose Restaurant, we made our way to HEYDAY COffee to chill after a tiring morning walking tour. The cafe is found near the end of the Hoi An walking street and along the Thu Bon River. There was no one else there when we got to the cafe. The rain probably stopped people from coming out to explore and chill. This is good news for us since we have the terrace seats on the second floor. Yay! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

We Finally Got to Try Salt Coffee!

Besides Egg Coffee, which we tried at Phin Coffee & Restaurant, the next coffee on our list was Salt Coffee! We have seen a number of YouTubers try it, and we are intrigued. Having drunk so much coffee for my whole life, a salty cup of coffee has never been one that I thought I would have in my life. And we did, right here at HEYDAY Coffee in Hoi An!

I took a sip of the Salt Coffee and, to be honest was slightly underwhelmed by the taste. Even though we had never drunk it before, I was expecting something super salty from those YouTube videos. But the salt coffee here was not as salty as I thought. It was so light that hubs and I thought there wasn’t any salt in it. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) That said, I think it is a gentle introduction to salt coffee. After this attempt, we continued looking for more places selling salt coffee in Hoi An. We eventually found one that was AMAZINGLY GOOD. I will share all the details in a future post, so stay tuned! ( ´ ω ` )

People-Watching from the Terrace Seats

We sat in the cafe for the next few hours, drinking salt coffee and hot honey lemon tea. While we were here, we noticed many people crossing the bridge or alighting at a packing lot nearby to start their tour of Hoi An Ancient Town. This area seems to be the starting or ending point for tourists, which might explain why not many people drop by HEYDAY Coffee for a drink. The whole time we were there, only one other family came up to have their drinks. Otherwise, it was just hubs and me, so we kind of like it here. Chilling to the view of Thu Bon River was nice as the drizzle continued. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

As the sky gets darker and the rain gets lighter, more and more people arrive in Hoi An, and the city gets vibrant again. It was nice to see the lights from the boats on the river, though hubs and I will NEVER want to be on that side of the river again. Haha! I ranted about the Hoi An Night Market and boat ride, so if you are visiting Hoi An, you might want to read to learn more. (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Confusing Opening Hours at HEYDAY Coffee, Hoi An

After sitting on the second floor for a few hours, we sensed the cafe closing as the lights below us went off. According to Google Maps, HEYDAY Coffee’s opening hours were supposed to be until 9.30 PM. So even though we saw the lights go off, we didn’t think the cafe was closed since it was only 7 PM. Also, no one told us we needed to leave, so we continued staying there.

We eventually made our way down the stairs and saw someone tidying up the ground floor. The main entrance was already closed. (⊙_⊙) Luckily, there was another exit through a shop selling clothes so that we could make our way out. It seems the person tidying up the cafe was the boss of the clothes shop. So I don’t know if she owns the cafe as well. LOL. But it was odd to be left up there. Imagine coming down to closed doors on both sides. That will be a funny story worth sharing. Haha! (*/ω\)

Overall Experience at HEYDAY Coffee in Hoi An

It probably has to do with the rainy weather, but hubs and I had a quiet and chilling good time at HEYDAY Coffee. I don’t know how many cafes have a view of the Thu Bon River, but it was nice to enjoy the view with a drink on the terrace. Watching the world go by while we sat up there was also lovely as we chilled. So, if you are looking for a place to relax, try HEYDAY Coffee! I don’t know how crowded it can get, but if possible, grab the terrace seats on the second floor for a view!
