Coffee is a must-have in Vietnam, especially if you are a coffee drinker! With so many coffee spots in Hoi An, deciding which ones to visit for our trip was tough! We tried to visit as many of them as possible in Hoi An. But still, the list doesn’t look extensive. As such, I have included coffee spots we have shortlisted but failed to visit for our trip. I hope with this list, you will be able to find your perfect cup of coffee~! (・ω<)☆

Hoi An Hidden Alley Coffee Spot

1. The Espresso Station

The Espresso Station is one of the many recommended coffee spots we found online while deciding which one to include in our itinerary. We were supposed to visit it for lunch, but the weather screwed our plans, and we had to abandon it for other things that we had to accomplish in Hoi An. (´-ω-`)

This coffee spot seems like a lovely gem in the heart of Hoi An. It is hidden in an alley, away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Having been in Hoi An for six days, the craziness of the weather and crowds sometimes get to us. Having such a place to escape to is one of the best things in Hoi An. You will know what I mean once you have been to Hoi An. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) And this is one of the coffee spots you should hide in to chill with a cup of great coffee! ( ´ ω ` )

2. Phin Coffee & Restaurant

This coffee spot is easily one of the highest-recommended coffee spots in Hoi An. Almost every article I have read online mentions it, and our visit proves it is worthy of mention.

The food and drinks we ate and the interior of Phin Coffee & Restaurant

Phin Coffee & Restaurant was the first coffee spot we visited in Hoi An, and the coffee did not disappoint. We also had our first taste of the unique Coconut Egg Coffee here. Besides the great coffee, the whole place also had quite a vibe. With its outdoor settings and a cute set-up on the second floor, this coffee spot is excellent for some Instagram-worthy shots. It is no wonder this coffee spot is raved about so much. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

Coffee Spot with a view in Hoi An

3. Faifo Coffee

There are several recommended rooftop coffee spots in Hoi An, with Faifo Coffee being the most popular one, with more than 2,000 reviews on Google. We planned to visit Faifo Coffee early in the morning to avoid the crowd and heat in Hoi An. And guess what? We overslept and got too lazy to leave our beds and make our way there. And to make matters worse, it was our check-out day, so we didn’t even have a second chance with it. (*/ω\)

Based on Google reviews, the drinks were average at best, and the cafe’s rooftop was its attraction. If I never remember wrongly, you must get a drink before you can go to the rooftop, so you are not getting away with just a visit up there for a quick photo! Because there are limited seats on the rooftop, I recommend coming super early to grab a seat so you can enjoy a view of the streets of Hoi An from up top. Many would visit for the sunset, so make sure you consider all these before coming here!

4. HEYDAY Coffee

Out of all the riverside coffee spots we had shortlisted, we chose to visit HEYDAY Coffee because we like the direct view of the Thu Bon River from the terrace seats on the second floor. With the rainy weather that day, hardly anyone was at the cafe, so we had the whole terrace seats to ourselves and enjoyed the view until the sunset.

The salt coffee we had and the interior of HEYDAY Coffee

HEYDAY Coffee is also where we first tasted salt coffee in Hoi An! I have written a separate post to share our salt coffee adventure, so if you are interested to know about this unique coffee, go read it! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

5. POISON Cafe

POISON Cafe is another coffee spot I shortlisted while looking for a place with a view of the Thu Bon River. Unlike the others I have shared, this coffee spot seems to have a more obstructed view. Based on photos on Google, only some tables outdoors have a view of the river.

Many people visit this place for its atmosphere and food, with the most raving about the food and vibe. If you are okay with an obstructed river view but can have fantastic food and drinks, this would probably be an excellent place to check out! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

6. U Cafe Hoi An

U Cafe Hoi An is probably the cafe with the best view of the Thu Bon River in my shortlisted list of coffee spots in Hoi An. Sadly, it is quite a distance from the Hoi An main streets, so we did not make it there due to the crazy hot weather. Seriously, hot and humid weather sometimes makes you want to stay indoors at all times. (ノД`)

Based on the photos shared on Google, the cafe seems to have a broader view of Thu Bon River, something I don’t see in the coffee spots in Hoi An Ancient Town. If you have the time to spend in Hoi An and don’t mind travelling a bit further away from the heart of Hoi An, I highly recommend you check out this place!

Coffee Spot with a Vibe in Hoi An

7. Cam Coffee n more

While looking for a coffee spot along the Thu Bon River, I came across Cam Coffee n more. What attracted me to this coffee spot was its beautiful interior design. It doesn’t have the usual tones that cafes and restaurants use in Hoi An. The entire vibe, as shown through photos online, looks similar to what we see in Bali.

We planned to visit this coffee spot after checking out another cafe. Due to the rainy weather, we spent our time at the other cafe and missed out on the opportunity to check out this coffee spot. If you want to check out a coffee spot with a Balinese vibe, this is the place to visit! (@´ー`)ノ゙

8. Namto House Coffee Hoi An

While searching for egg coffee in Hoi An, I came across Namto House Coffee Hoi An. Reviews were quite positive on Google, with many sharing its great coffee and vibe. They also seemed to have a unique way of presenting their egg coffee, and I am always a sucker for a unique presentation. Who isn’t right? (´・ᴗ・ ` )

We were deciding between this coffee spot and Phin Coffee & Restaurant and eventually went with the latter due to its popularity. If you want to try some uniquely-presented coffee, drop by this spot for its signature egg coffee!

9. The Curve Restaurant & Bar

As the name suggests, The Curve Restaurant & Bar is not really a cafe. But we came here on our last night in Hoi An for our last cups of coffee. Since it is away from the main streets of Hoi An, hubs and I had such a peaceful time having our coffee and snacks here while the world went by outside.

Being such a random find, we were amazed by the quality and beautiful presentation of the coffee. Like I say, I am a sucker for unique presentations, so check this place out for some great coffee with an exquisite presentation! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

Simply-Because-I-Want-Coffee Spots in Hoi An

10. Highland Coffee

Highland Coffee is the most commonly seen coffee chain in Vietnam, compared to Starbucks. But just because it is a coffee chain doesn’t mean it isn’t good compared to the small cafes. We had a Highland Coffee outlet right opposite our hotel in Hoi An, and it was our constant source of coffee during our stay because it was so good. (★ω★)

Our Phin Sua Da from Highland Coffee

Our favourite was the Phin Sua Da (Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk). We tried to have the Bac Xiu Da (Iced White PHIN Coffee & Condensed Milk) out of curiosity and regretted it immediately after taking a sip. It was way too sweet! ٩(× ×)۶ Apparently, the latter used more condensed milk, and it is no wonder it was so much sweeter.

If you want the most basic Vietnamese coffee, get the classic Phin Sua Da; you can never go wrong with that. The coffee-to-milk ratio was just the right amount for us, and I always love the slightly bitter/charred coffee aftertaste from the iced coffee. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

OUR RECOMMENDATION

💲Phin Sua Da: 29,000 VND (~1.60 SGD)

11. Hoi An Roastery Espresso & Coffee House

Hoi An Roastery is yet another coffee spot that comes highly recommended by many people. We wanted to visit it before our spa session. But after the long walk back and forth to get our salt coffee from Cafe Muoi Co Anh, our energy was drained by the crazy hot weather! So, yep, we skipped this cafe too! (*/ω\)

Hoi An Roastery is on the main streets of Hoi An. We have passed by it multiple times, but we always didn’t have the time to check it out. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) We saw many people sitting at the front or on the second floor every time we walked by it. It definitely looks like a good place to do some people-watching.

That said, there seem to be mixed reviews on Google, ranging from saying it has good coffee to just average coffee. For a cafe that comes highly recommended, the reviews are unexpectedly negative. Some people even said that the place felt stuffy when sitting indoors. So, just some things to consider when visiting this coffee spot in Hoi An!

12. IVY Coffee-Tea

IVY Coffee-Tea was just within a short walking distance from our hotel in Hoi An. So, without a doubt, we would always pass by it whenever we walked back to our hotel after a day of exploration in Hoi An Ancient Town. And out of curiosity, we decided to get a cup of iced coffee from them. We got the Ca Phe Sua, which was quite average. The Phin Sua Da from Highland Coffee was definitely better as it has a better balance between the coffee’s bitterness and the milk’s sweetness.

Our Ca Phe Sua and the interior of IVY Coffee-Tea

Reviews on Google were pretty much quite negative. Haha! I totally didn’t expect the negative reviews as we visited this place out of convenience. Many people mentioned the rude attitude of the staff. Hubs was buying the coffee, but he didn’t say anything, so I guess it was okay with him. With Highland Coffee just a short walk away, I recommend visiting it rather than IVY Coffee-Tea to avoid facing such issues. It’s not like their coffee was fantastic, so you might as well check out Highland Coffee instead~! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Final Thoughts on Coffee Spots in Hoi An

With so many coffee spots in Hoi An, you would be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to go for a cup of coffee to chill for the day.
