On our third day in Japan, it was finally time for us to head out of Tokyo to Hokkaido~! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ Since it was our first time in Hokkaido, we decided to stay at JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo, which is conveniently located just beside the JR Sapporo station. Read on for our journey from Tokyo to Hokkaido as well as our amazing room at JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

The Journey from Tokyo to Hokkaido

The great thing about staying at Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku is that it is a pick-up/drop-off point for the Japan Airport Limousine bus. Since we were heading to Haneda Airport for our flight to Hokkaido, we bought two Japan Airport Limousine bus tickets from our hotel reception the day before. Talk about convenience! \(^ヮ^)/

Since it was still early, we headed to level 2 of Haneda Airport to have a quick breakfast. The cafe has a good view of the immigration area, and both Feng and I were able to observe what the locals were doing. The locals would take off their coats, belts, laptops and what-nots to place them in the trays before going through immigration. If you have ever flown overseas, you would know that a lot of people would tend to do all these only just right before the immigration security scan. Seeing what the locals did really taught me something new, as I am someone who loves efficiency. ( ´ ω ` )

While we were boarding our flight, we saw quite a number of locals scanning their mobile phones’ QR codes instead of using physical boarding passes. Talk about being one of the most high-tech countries in the world! We were obviously holding on to our physical boarding passes while we admired their tech. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) Then it was a short 1.5-hour flight time to the New Chitose Airport.

From the Hokkaido Airport to JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo

Once we collected our luggage, we headed down to the New Chitose Airport station to get our JR Rapid Airport tickets. I love how convenient this whole process is since the train station at the basement of the airport building. Our hotel is located near JR Sapporo station, and from the airport to JR Sapporo station only takes 36 minutes! You have to love how connected Japan’s train system is because it brings so much convenience to not just locals but tourists as well. (´• ω •`)

Since we had yet to step out of the buildings, when we reached JR Sapporo station, we were greeted by the cold wind. Our thick jackets were still in our luggage, so we were NOT READY for this sudden cold wind. Haha! The locals must think we were so silly as we dashed down the stairs to try to avoid the wind. Luckily the JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo is only located a 3-minute walk from the station, so we did not have to walk far in our light clothes before we got some warmth in the hotel. Phew. (*/ω\)

Movie and Lunch before Hotel Check-In

Since we were early, we left our luggage with the hotel and walked over to the JR Tower to keep ourselves entertained before check-in time. I love how convenient it is to have the JR Tower just located beside our hotel so we could walk in for some last-minute shopping or what-nots during our stay in Hokkaido.

Interesting Movie Experience

Out of all the things we can do, we decided to catch a movie! It was probably one of the few things that we wanted to try in different countries so that we could check out their cinemas. Cinema Frontier manages the cinemas at JR Tower, and I like that they have special prices on different days for different groups of people. We were watching a movie on Wednesday, and it happened to be Men’s Day! So Feng got to get the special price for the movie. How cool is that! (*♡∀♡)

When we got our tickets, we realised there were no seat numbers indicated on the ticket. That confused us for a bit before we realised that it was actually a movie with free seating. This is so different from our system in Singapore. So definitely a good idea to try something new like this as you never know what you will find. (´• ω •`)

Lunch at Pomme-no-ki

After the movie, it was time for lunch! Intrigued by the omurice offering, we decided to dine at Pomme-no-ki (ポムの樹). We each got a set meal, but honestly, I don’t really remember what I ordered. Haha! Let’s just say it was an alright omurice experience. (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Welcome to JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo, Hokkaido

After our lunch, it was finally time to check in to JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo~! With our first hotel stay in Shinjuku at Hotel Sunroute Plaza, we were expecting a room of a similar size. But we were WOW-ed. The room was HUGE! We booked this Twin Room from JAPNiCAN, and it was only 16,000 yen per night! A quick check with the official website shows that the room was priced at 36,000 yen per night, so we got lucky with the price. \(★ω★)/

Everything is Just WOW

In comparison to our stay at Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, this room was so much more luxurious. Two people can now comfortably fit through the entrance. The desk should comfortably fit all our miscellaneous items and still have space left for more. There was even a mirror hidden in the work desk, making putting on makeup so much more convenient. Our room came with two beds, but not like we needed two since both of us could fit into one comfortably. So we ended up using one bed to put our stuff instead.

The bathroom was HUGE as well. I mean, in comparison to Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, it is considered HUGE. The shower area is separated by a glass door, of which there is a big bathtub as well as an area for you to wash down on a stool. All the basic amenities are provided, and it came with my favourite smart toilet bowl as well! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

The View was Just WOW as Well

With everything that I have mentioned, plus our bags, there was still so much space to walk around, and we even had a seating area to enjoy the view. Did I mention that the best part of this room was the AMAZING view? We had an AMAZING view of Sapporo city right from our room, day and night. (❤ω❤)

Overall Experience at JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo

We had an amazing three-night stay at JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo. Our room was amazing, and we always looked forward to coming back to the warmth of the room after a full day out in the cold. The view definitely made staying at JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo all worth it. Not forgetting, the hotel is conveniently located just beside JR Tower as well as the JR Sapporo station, making it such a convenient place to stay. If you ever got a good deal, better grab it because I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Hokkaido! (´• ω •`) ♡
