After two days of relaxing at COMO Uma Ubud, it was time for us to head to Seminyak~! We booked a private car with our villa agent. By the time we checked out, it was already waiting for us at the hotel’s parking lot. And this started the journey to our private pool villa in Seminyak! C= C= C= C= C=┌(;・ω・)┘

Journey to Seminyak

It takes about 1.5 hours to get from Ubud to Seminyak. Due to the village temple’s festival that was going on, there was quite some traffic in Ubud along the way. All was good until we reached the Canggu area. When people were saying that Canggu has always been crowded during the pandemic, I didn’t believe it until we experienced the heavy traffic. There was this long line of traffic going into Canggu I think? We were stuck there for quite a bit.

We were still worried that traffic might be bad in Seminyak. Luckily for us, all was good when we got to the Seminyak main street. Seems like tourist traffic is still quite low in this area as compared to the pre-pandemic period. (´• ω •`)

Location of our Private Villa in Seminyak

After having a great experience staying at Villa Wahah, a private villa under Luxury Villa Bali, we decided to go back to them for our stay this time. Our requirements are pretty straightforward. We want a private villa that has both the convenience of staying in the heart of the Seminyak as well as a fully enclosed living area.

A lot of private villas usually have an open concept for the living and dining area. We had that previously and don’t quite like it. There were insects flying around and disturbing us while we were in the living area at night. We ended up staying in our bedroom most nights to avoid such situations.

Lucky for us, we found one that fits the bill under Luxury Villa Bali and we booked it~! The best part is, the private villa is just located beside the popular Revolver Espresso in Seminyak! Good coffee whenever we need it. How good is that?! ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶

Welcome to Villa Bella

Checking in was quick and easy as our villa manager briefly walked through everything with us. A welcome drink was also served though this time, it was just plain water with lemon in it. (*/ω\) Not sure if cost-cutting is involved but a welcome drink has never been so basic. Haha!

As with our previous stay, a phone is provided for our stay so that we can use it to contact the villa manager. We could also use it to make any other calls or order food with it. Quite a good thing to have if you don’t have your own roaming mobile data. (´ ∀ ` *)

What Our Accommodation Includes

A daily cleaning service is also provided during our stay. The staff would drop by and would help to empty the rubbish bin as well as tidy/clean up the whole villa. They would also help to clean up the pool. But cleaning up the pool is probably tougher since dead leaves would drop into the pool ever so often. This was less of an issue at Villa Wahah since there was less vegetation beside our private pool.

Since water is not potable in Bali, drinking water is provided in the fridge. The staff would also help to top it up every day. Breakfast is not included in our stay. The agency could of ‘cos arranged for a chef to come to our villa to cook for us at an additional cost. But with so many food options in the area, it seems excessive to have breakfast included. (´・ᴗ・ ` )

All Things Basic Provided

In general, everything was great during our stay at Villa Bella. Everything that we would need when having takeaways, is found in the kitchen drawers or cupboard.

Basic bathroom amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided in the villa. Everything other things, you would have to bring yourself. Since our villa is located near the main street, it was easy to buy any daily necessities from the convenience stores nearby.

Chill. Eat. Repeat.

Sadly, the weather wasn’t as good as we wanted it to be. There were moments of light or slightly heavier rain during our stay so we couldn’t spend more time sunning ourselves. We did take the pockets of good weather to enjoy our private pool.

Compared to our previous villa, our private pool in Villa Bella is more sheltered. So on cloudy days, the water would be REALLY COLD (not as cold as what we had in Ubud). I am not gonna lie when I said I would take about 10 minutes to try to get used to the temperature before fully dipping into the water. {{ (>_<) }}

Besides being able to enjoy some private pool time, the best thing about staying at a private villa is definitely all about the food. For us at least that is. Haha! Using GoJek and GrabFood is so easy in Bali and usually, it covers quite a big area, as compared to Singapore. So you would be able to have access to food that is quite a distance away as well.

As compared to our previous experience, both delivery services were quite good this time. Previously, our GoJek driver would separately drop us a text to negotiate a separate price. Generally, it was okay for us, as long as the food gets to us. But this time, there wasn’t a single text of such nature. We wondered if they had clamped down on such behaviour. But anyway, we would generally tip the driver for their hard work, either through cash for GoJek or GrabFood’s tipping system. That’s sort of the least we could do to help them. ( ´ ω ` )

A Quiet (& Hidden) Alleyway

We thought that being located beside the Revolver Espresso would be a good thing. ‘Cos human traffic would usually make the area slightly safer. We weren’t wrong about that but in reality, this alleyway is actually REALLY quiet. ٩(× ×)۶

In comparison to Villa Wahah, Villa Bella’s alleyway was darker. We have read about Bali being unsafe during the pandemic after people lost their jobs and resorted to other means of money. So to be safe, we didn’t go out past a certain time and chose to order from GoGek or GradFood instead.

The alleyway where we used to stay also had access to a convenience store just a short walk away. At Villa Bella however, we would have to walk a distance to the convenience store on the main street. Not too far but not as near as the one we had at Villa Wahah. This is just nit-picking but the convenience is definitely better at Villa Wahah. (´• ω •`)

Even though we are located beside a popular cafe, drivers still had a hard time locating it. We tried to book a private car after checking out to bring us to Alila Seminyak. So many of the drivers missed the turn and cancelled our booking. (ノД`) Luckily the villa manager was there so we asked for her help to communicate with our final driver.

Not a Good Night’s Sleep

Everything seems well with the villa. But I think soundproofing is a major issue with this villa.

Our villa is one of three villas in the cluster. So when our neighbours were leaving/entering their villa, we could hear them via our bathroom window. This is not even the worst of the problem since we actually could hardly hear them when they were inside their villa.

For some very weird reason, there were dogs barking so much and so loud early in the morning. I think it’s the early morning ‘cos I didn’t check my phone when I was woken up. They were barking so much! ( `ε´ ) There seems to be a house belonging to a local resident as we saw them with a group of dogs on our way back to our villa one day. It could be them, could be not but OH MY GOODNESS. The noise was terrible. And then there was one night when there was so much LOUD MEOWING from cats! I don’t know where they were or what’s going on but it went on for SO LONG.

It was terrible. We didn’t have this issue when we were staying at Villa Wahah so I am not sure if it has got to do with the location but it was not good. I don’t like getting my sleep disturbed. (҂ `з´ )

Overall Experience

I wanted to say I love everything about Villa Bella but sadly no. The noise in that area is totally not acceptable to me. If it’s a problem with people making noises, I think that can be dealt with. But noise from animals that you don’t know where it’s from?! I think that’s gonna be a hard pass for us.

Also in comparison to Villa Wahah, this private villa’s location definitely pales in convenience and safety in Seminyak. It was good to have Revolver Espresso so near to us. But with the convenience of GoJek and GradFood, we were quick to realise that doesn’t matter much to us. Haha! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

The best thing about Villa Bella has got to be the enclosed living and dining area. This allowed us to hang out more in the living area and enjoy each other’s company, instead of just watching TV in the bedroom. We could also dine in peace with our takeaways without flying bugs disturbing our peace.

I guess we are gonna have to find another similar private villa in another location next time we are back in Seminyak. We would most probably go back to Luxury Villa Bali for their great service and communication, as long as they have a private villa in Seminyak that suits our requirements! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
