Staying in a brand-new place always excites us as we check out new places to eat. Hehe. Sanur might have a laid-back vibe, but it also has many cafes and restaurants. Since Jln. Danau Tamblingan is the main street in Sanur, we decided to look for places to eat along this street, and we came across Sala Bistro & Coffee. Captured by its beautiful interior design and food choices, we decided to check it out for our first breakfast in Sanur! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

Why We Chose Sala Bistro & Coffee in Sanur

When I came across Sala Bistro & Coffee on Google Maps, I thought this cafe was related to the SALA Hospitality Group. But nope, this place is a standalone cafe without relation to the company. It just happened to have the word Sala in it. (´・ᴗ・ ` ) Captivated by the beautiful white with wooden furnishings and the photos of its delicious-looking food, hubs and I decided that this is the place for our first breakfast in Sanur! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

Breakfast at the Cafe

We reached the cafe around 9.15 AM, and the first floor of the cafe was already bustling with diners. Yes, there are two floors to the cafe, which we didn’t know until much later. So we thought the cafe was almost full when we got there and didn’t know we could also check out the second floor. (*/ω\) Anyway, all was well as some people left when we were about to walk into the cafe. So yay for having a table on the first floor! Lucky lucky~! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

What We Ordered at Sala Bistro Sanur

I love smoked salmon, and the Farmer’s Omelette on the menu was exceptionally tempting to me, both in its presentation and ingredients. So I decided to have that for breakfast. Hubs, on the other hand, went with a sweeter dish – smoothie bowl. It was his first time trying out a smoothie bowl, so he ordered the Sunrise Bowl. Besides the main dishes, we also had some drinks with our food! There is our usual Flat White. Intrigued by the word Rainbow in the name Rainbow Dose, I ordered this fruit juice as well, hoping it would taste magical, like a rainbow. ( ´ ω ` )

Super Filling Omelette and Smoothie Bowl

I love my Farmer’s Omelette! I don’t typically like scrambled eggs in my dishes as I always thought they were a bit bland compared to other forms of eggs. But the scrambled egg in this dish was absolutely delicious! It was nicely flavoured, and there was no need for any additional seasoning as it was amazing by itself. The dish had other sides, such as caramelised onions, capers, roasted cherry tomatoes, sourdough bread and smoked salmon! When eaten together, it was even tastier. It was such a super fulfilling breakfast. (★ω★)

The Farmer's Omelette and Sunrise Bowl that we ordered at Sala Bistro in Sanur

As for hubs, he was also enjoying his first beautiful smoothie bowl – Sunrise Bowl! The base is a mango smoothie topped with granola, banana, strawberry, coconut flakes, almond slices and passion fruit. One look at it, and I was already full. Haha! But maybe because we have been so used to having savoury food for breakfast, hubs needed some savoury stuff to balance the sweet stuff from the smoothie bowl. Luckily, I had a lot of omelette on my plate to share with him. Hehe. (´• ω •`)

Good Coffee and Yummy Fruit Juice

Flat White was on the menu, so how can we NOT order it? Hehe. The coffee was really good, although we thought it was a bit too milky. It would be an excellent flat white for those who prefer to have yours more milky. Anyway, Sala Bistro is a vegan and lactose-intolerant-friendly cafe in Sanur. So, you can replace the milk with oat or almond milk. The staff asked if we needed to replace the milk when taking our order. It’s good that this was asked when taking orders instead of you having to ask for it. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

The Flat White and Rainbow Dose, a fruit juice, we had at the cafe, with a cookie and coconut sugar given to us with the coffe as well.

Now comes the wonderful fruit juice called Rainbow Dose! It is made of many goodies I love in a drink – mango, banana, dragonfruit, lime juice and honey. Yum yum. But seriously, I thought we were having fruit juice. But it turned out to be more of a smoothie than a juice. LOL. That said, it was actually quite easy to drink and tasted quite nice, especially when it has everything I love. Hehe. (>ω^)

Craving for More from Sala Bistro Sanur

There were just too many things we wanted to try from the Sala Bistro & Coffee’s menu. But we only had so much stomach space for one visit! Luckily, we stayed within walking distance of the cafe to order more stuff from GoJek! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

Tuna Wakame & Loaded Croissant

I was deciding between Tuna Wakame and Farmer’s Omelette while at the cafe. Eventually, the latter won, but I still craved to try Tuna Wakame after knowing how good the food at Sala Bistro & Coffee was. (´-ω-`) So when hubs suggested we could order on GoJek, this was the first item that came to my mind! (´• ω •`)ノ The Tuna Wakame came with seared tuna, carrot, rice noodles, edamame, Sunkist, tobiko, wakame and sesame dressing. After mixing in the sesame dressing, it became a flavourful salad. My favourite was definitely the nicely seared tuna. (っ˘ڡ˘ς)

Hubs was intrigued by the Loaded Croissant, a croissant with bacon, arugula and ricotta with poached egg and truffle hollandaise sauce drizzled over it. It was pretty interesting to have the poached eggs on a croissant, which was not easily found elsewhere.

Better to Dine-In than Delivery?

Even though both items were delivered to us, they still tasted quite good. Having them physically in the cafe would have tasted even better with a nicer presentation! The poached eggs and sauce were put on the side instead of on the croissant, which was expected. The salad would look 200% prettier in a bowl when everything is nicely placed. Sometimes, food just tastes better when it looks better. ( ´ ω ` )

Overall Experience at Sala Bistro & Coffee, Sanur

We loved everything we tried at Sala Bistro & coffee in Sanur, dining in person and through food delivery. The service at the cafe was fantastic, and everyone there was amiable. The staff serving us even came to our table to check on us and ask about our food to make sure everything was good. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

The interior and the staff behind the counter at Sala Bistro & Coffee in Sanur

Besides being vegan and lactose-intolerant-friendly, the cafe is also pet-friendly! Not just that, they even have a menu for your pets! I have never seen that before, so it was quite interesting that such a menu exists. Someone brought his dog to the cafe; it even has its water bowl! Honestly, it was a rather unique sight to take in. ( ´ ω ` )

Anyway, if you are in Sanur and looking for a place with good food, definitely consider coming to Sala Bistro & Coffee! It might be a good idea to avoid the dining hours so that you can find seats easily! ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝
