Andaz Singapore is a luxury hotel in the heart of the city. A hotel that exceeds our expectations. At the time of this article, we were still in the midst of the pandemic, making it tough for everyone to travel for holidays. We hardly go for staycations in Singapore as the amount spent for a hotel stay in Singapore can usually secure us a short trip to Batam. AND Batam IS going overseas. (/ω\)

Why Andaz Singapore?

So anyway, this year being a “special” year, we have decided to go on a staycation in Singapore! We were trying to look for a nice staycation during my birthday, and also to help boost the economy, and we thought of Oasia Novena. If you have never been to Oasia Novena, you should definitely give it a visit as well. We opted for the Club Suite and it was a superbly lovely room. (+`∀´)b

The rooms at Andaz Singapore reminded us of Oasia Novena hence we decided to book it for my birthday! And no regrets. d(•͈ _•͈ෆ)ᵍ♡♡ᵈ !!

Andaz Singapore, a luxury hotel in the heart of the city

Andaz Singapore is located in Bugis and near the vibrant Kampong Glam, with two MRT exits that lead to DUO Galleria and then you will be able to access the hotel.

Being managed by Hyatt, you can now manage your booking using their app, which means that you can do your check-in using the app and they will let you know when the room is ready. We did our check-in through the app but nevertheless, we still checked in at the counter. The hotel lobby was quite small and even with the current situation where social distancing is in place, checking in was hassle-free and off we go to our room in a few minutes!

Being a concept hotel by Hyatt, the first thing that captured our attention right when we reached our room, was the keypad. Unlike the traditional ones that you see at almost all the hotels, the keypad looks really classic/elegant, just like a small postal box! tapping your key card at the key zone will let you into the room. I tried using the virtual key card on the app but… Sadly it failed. Even after trying a few times. Not sure if it’s my phone but it just doesn’t work. o(╥﹏╥)

There is a special message from the hotel to guests on the TV, informing guests of the hygiene measures that they implemented so that everyone can have peace of mind while enjoying their stay with Andaz. Antibacterial wet wipes were also provided in the bathroom. Quite a thoughtful gesture, even if it is just something simple, something which I think a lot of hotels are doing right now.

King City View room

I am not lying when I say this is a resort in the heart of the city. The attention to every single detail of the hotel room was on point. Once we walked along the corridor into the room, everything that came into sight was wow-ing. The colour combination, the furniture. Everything in the room is less of a hotel room and more of what you might experience in a resort. Less talk and now let me walk you through our room! (ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ)♡

The room comes with a complimentary mini-bar, which means that you can have everything in the bar for free. EVERYTHING including the beer. (≧∇≦)/

Of most of the hotels we have been to, we seldom come across such fanciful packaging for toiletries. Andaz’s toiletries were packed in this lovely colourful packaging that was to die for. Such effort in creating an experience!

I didn’t capture it in detail but the mirror was beautifully “hanged” in the basin area, looking like a wooden serving pan being hung there. Those little details. The rain shower was fantastic if you are curious, so even without a bathtub, it was a superb bathroom. (♡´𓋰`♡)

We got a room with a city view for the fun of it, so it was nice to be able to look out during the daytime. The night view in Singapore is more lacklustre from this direction but still nice to look at.

Messaging Service with Andaz

It was a gloomy day on the day we checked in so even with plans on our mind, I am usually the one too lazy to get my butt off the comfortable bed. Staycation being a staycation, there usually is nothing much we can do in the room besides watching movies on the TV and eating.

Thankfully Andaz Singapore has a comprehensive in-room service menu and once again, they have an amazing concept whereby you can order room service through messaging! Not only room service, but you can also use it to book your swimming pool slot (due to the current situation), make housekeeping requests and other services. We were AMAZED and this is really a new concept for us. And don’t worry, their response is fast and everything was promptly delivered. Superb service even through message interaction! (+`∀´)b

Dining Options

Back to the in-room dining menu. Andaz Singapore has quite a comprehensive menu, which we were grateful for even though we can also order Grabfood/Foodpanda since there are so many restaurants around us in the city. But nope, why order outside food when you can try the food they have here?

I didn’t capture a lot of photos while walking around the hotel but they have 5 restaurants and a bar. Some restaurants remain closed due to the current situation but those that were opened when we were there, were PACKED. It seems like everyone has the same thoughts as us during a staycation, you either watch TV or you eat. So that’s what everyone is doing. (˶′◡‵˶)

We even made a reservation with Mr. Stork, a rooftop alfresco drinking and dining spot, but eventually didn’t go for it as it was drizzling. But there was a proposal going on when we went up to take a look. (*/∇\⭒)

In-Room Dining

We ordered their Auntie’s Laksa and since it’s my birthday, we also ordered their Andaz Signature Pandan Chiffon Cake. We didn’t expect the cake to come as a whole cake and our first impression was that it was gonna be sweet. And boy were we surprised by how good these two dishes taste! The Laksa was nice and spicy (to our liking) with quality Tiger prawns while the chiffon cake was a surprise once you cut into it. The sweetness was just right, the chiffon hidden inside was nice and soft and the jello outside worked well to balance the dry part of the chiffon cake. MANY THUMBS UP! o(≧∇≦o)

The next day we made a reservation at a breakfast place nearby (our room doesn’t come with breakfast) and… I was lazy AGAIN. Yeah, I got to do something about this being a lazy thing. So we decided to order in-room breakfast instead. Haha!

The breakfast was okay and I am always grateful for bacon (will wish for more) but Andaz did it again. I mean… We have never come by this small bottle of tomato ketchup before! We have always been served with ketchup on an extra small plate but never THIS. I mean how cool is that?! Being willing to splurge that little on their guests, makes the overall experience even better. ˙˚ʚ(´◡`)ɞ˚˙

Bonus Item

The lady at the check-in counter wished me a Happy Birthday after the check-in process. Us being us, we usually don’t let anyone know it’s our birthday, be it a birthday celebration at a restaurant or staying with the hotel, ‘cos we don’t like the attention given to us. Especially at a restaurant. (๑•﹏•)

When we were in our room, the doorbell rang and K brought in some items that were given by the hotel staff. Apparently knowing it was my birthday, the hotel staff had delivered a hand-written card as well as some small gifts to our room.

Overall Experience

Thank you Andaz Singapore, you all were too sweet with the birthday card and gifts! Your service was superb, your food was fantastic and everything about the room was great. We will definitely be back if we ever need a short escapade in Singapore. (ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ)♡
