It was our last day in Hoi An, so we wanted to drink as much coffee as possible before heading to Da Nang. Haha! (´・ᴗ・ ` ) After our dessert adventure to RIN Gelato, we decided to find a place to chill with coffee and snacks. While walking back to our hotel, we spotted the Curve Restaurant & Bar. Captivated by its yellow building and blue signage, hubs and I decided to check out what they have for us to chill for the evening~! (・ω<)☆

Enjoying the Chill Vibe at The Curve Restaurant & Bar

Many restaurants and cafes in Hoi An seem pretty quiet during the day since people usually only visit from evening onwards. When we arrived, there was only one other table of gentlemen, who left shortly after we arrived. The exterior of The Curve Restaurant & Bar looks like a cafe, but once we walked in, neon lights greeted us. I see where the bar comes from in the name. Hehe.

Initially, I thought the place was relatively small. But it was bigger than expected. Not only does it have outdoor space right by the entrance, but there are also some high stools with a foosball table on one side of the building. I supposed this place would be bustling at night with people either watching matches on the TV or just drinking and playing a game of foosball with friends. But the place has a chill vibe during the day, with music playing in the background. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

What We Ordered at The Curve Restaurant & Bar

A cute staff member named Duyen was serving us that day. Seeing me with my camera, she asked if I was a professional photographer. Haha! That honestly took me by surprise because no one had asked me that before. (*/ω\) I didn’t know how to answer but just said I took photos for fun. LOL. ( ´ ω ` )

A Unique Dish on the Menu at the Restaurant

it is not often that we see grilled dried squid on the menu. So, hubs and I ordered it as a light snack to go with our coffee. If you think grilled dried squid is something like calamari, it’s not! It has a chewy texture and usually comes with an overpowering smell that not everyone can accept.

Duyen gave us a quizzical look when she was taking our order. I supposed she was thinking of how to explain the dish to us. After discovering that we were from Singapore, she knew we would know what we were getting ourselves into. Haha! She told us many foreigners, especially Caucasians, don’t like the taste and smell of grilled dried squid. I get it; it’s just like how some people don’t like durian. (´• ω •`)

Finally Having the Original Egg Coffee!

Since we were here for coffee, we ordered a cup of Egg Coffee and Coconut Coffee. To tell you the truth, even though we had been to Hoi An for a few days, we had only had ONE egg coffee. And even then, it was not the original egg coffee but a coconut egg coffee. So, we decided to go for the original version to see the difference.

When Duyen served the Egg Coffee to our table, she told us to drink it while it was hot, as it wouldn’t be as nice cold. So, we heeded her advice and drank the egg coffee first. It tasted quite good and was similar to the one we had at Phin Coffee & Restaurant, minus the coconut taste.

Conversely, the presentation looks different from what we had at Phin Coffee & Restaurant. The top layer looks like the top of a creme brulee, which looks like a layer of brown sugar. But besides that, everything else was quite similar. The coffee was smooth, and the consistency was just as thick. And as expected of an egg coffee, it was just as sweet. Hehe. If you have a sweet tooth, egg coffee is the coffee for you. I guess that might be why we didn’t have much in Hoi An since the egg coffee was a bit too sweet for our taste buds. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

Coffee is Served in an Exquisite Manner

Our Coconut Coffee was served in style~! A cup of ice-blended coconut was served alongside a small beaker of coffee. Of all the cafes and restaurants we have been to in Hoi An, The Curve Restaurant & Bar has the most exquisite way of presenting its coffee. And we love it! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

There were bits of coconut cracker on the ice-blended coconut. We poured the coffee into the cup and quickly stirred before taking our first sip. And woah~! It was so good! I could instantly taste the refreshing taste of coconut, followed by the coffee. Hubs and I loved it and wished we had discovered this earlier. ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝

Overall Experience at The Curve Restaurant & Bar

Since we were the only ones at The Curve Restaurant & Bar, it was nice to chill with our coffee and grilled dried squid. We had a good chat there while enjoying the music in the background. It was quite a vibe here during the day. If you are looking for a place to chill in the afternoon, I recommend checking out The Curve Restaurant & Bar. Not only was the service good, but the coffees were absolutely fantastic, not to mention the exquisite presentation! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)
