After our breakfast at VCR Cafe, we decided to walk down the road to explore the area. And that was when we spotted Three Years Old Cafe. Since we were too full for more food, hubs and I decided this would be where we were coming for our next breakfast! If you want to know how Instagrammable this cafe is, continue scrolling! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝

Three Years Old Cafe, White Outside and Inside

If there is black, there is always a white. While VCR is housed in a black building, Three Years Old Cafe is in a white building! Together, they created a balance in this area. Or actually, I am just bullsh*tting you. Haha! If you are walking over from VCR, you can’t help noticing this cafe as the exterior is so beautiful. w(°o°)w

Exterior and back door of Three Years Old Cafe

Visiting this cafe reminds me of Rise cafe in Singapore. It was one of the most aesthetically pleasing cafes we have ever seen, and this cafe has precisely the same vibe. Not only is the exterior white, but the interior is also full-on white. Everything looks so Instagram-worthy with white as the background. I just freaking love the white-wood combination. (´ ε ` )

There was quite a crowd when we were there. Luckily, we still managed to get ourselves a table. There is, once again, a 2nd floor for this cafe, and we failed to check it out again. Haha! Similar to VCR, if it gets too crowded, you might want to go upstairs to see if there are seats. I saw some photos taken on the 2nd floor, and it looks so pretty as well! (´ ω `♡)

What We Ordered

Compared to VCR, Three Years Old Cafe had a wide variety of cakes and pastries. So, hubs and I decided to go for its cakes and sandwich by ordering the Genmaicha Tart, Salted Egg Taro Chicken Floss Cake and Tuna Avocado Sandwich. Like all cafes, we also ordered Flat White and added something special, Mocha-misu.

Coincidentally, It was Three Years Old Cafe’s birthday on the day we visited! I don’t know if that is why there were so many people, but maybe that plays a part as well. Anyway, there was an “event” in the cafe so everyone could play the gachapon to get something from the cafe for their birthday celebration. And we won ourselves a special birthday drink! ( ´ ꒳ ` )

Great Coffee and Delish Sandwich

The flat white here at Three Years Old Cafe is also quite good. The coffee is less bitter than VCR but has a thicker foam. So, if you prefer milder coffee, choose to have one here instead of VCR. The Mocha-misu, on the other hand, was a tad bit too sweet for my liking. The drink is basically Mocha with a layer of thickened cream and powder. It is photo-worthy, and if you have a sweet tooth, this is probably something you might like.

We wanted a savoury breakfast, so we had the tuna avocado sandwich. It is basically a tuna sandwich but in a more luxurious form by using sourdough as the base. I love the sourdough, and I think the sandwich was good. I don’t usually praise salads, but the salad that came with the sandwich was nicely done, too. ( ´ ω ` )

Unique Tart and Cake Flavours

I ordered the Genmaicha tart as genmaicha is my favourite Japanese tea! The taste of genmaicha exploded in my mouth once the filling dissolved. It is not too sweet and of the right concentration, very good for genmaicha or maybe even matcha lovers. My only complaint is that the base is tough to cut through; otherwise, the tart was quite good. (´• ω •`)

Genmaicha tart and Salted Egg Taro Chicken Floss cake at Three Years Old Cafe

The Salted Egg Taro Chicken Floss cake was quite interesting. I was expecting many flavours to come through when I took a bite of the cake. But sadly, what I got was just a regular cream sponge cake flavour. There is only the slightest hint of saltiness from the salted egg and some chewiness from the chicken floss. We tried eating each part separately, and the taste was more intense. So, this cake is average at best, as it didn’t wow us.

Overall Experience at Three Years Old Cafe

If you want to find a place to chill with your friends over cake and coffee, I think Three Year Old Cafe is good for you. Everything we ordered looks so pretty, whether by itself or its presentation. You can definitely go snap-happy in this cafe. („• ᴗ •„)

P.S. If you are in Singapore and looking for an aesthetically pleasing cafe with good coffee and dessert, you definitely have to check out Rise Cafe!
